Do you want to take your company to new heights and learn how cutting-edge technology can add value to your existing construction practices? Then buckle up for an exciting ride, as Stephen Davies, Business Development Executive for the Geomatics division of Rocky Mountain Equipment Canada Ltd., instructs and demonstrates the various uses and benefits of Drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in the construction industry.

Davies will identify a number of criteria that organizations should use to ensure safe and reliable UAV operations, whether self-operated or subcontracted.

Drones are already forming an integral part of business operations for innovative construction firms all over the world. Don’t get left on the ground.

TOPICS:

  • Sensors – With so many sensors available in the marketplace, it’s difficult to know when to use a certain type of sensor over another. Davies will present RGB cameras, ortho photos, multi spectral, infra-red and LiDAR technology, and explain the best case use for each type.
  • UAVs – Davies will discuss the different types of UAVs currently in the marketplace and which ones you should consider for specific projects or for recurrent uses. The pros and cons of each type of platform will be identified and the conditions under which these platforms can be used will also be considered.
  • Regulations – Davies will cover regulatory and key requirements of operating UAVs (from a vendor and user perspective), as there are a number of regulations in place through Transport Canada, provincial and federal Occupational Health and Safety programs, the Aviation Occupational Health Program, the Safety Management System (SMS), and provincial safety certifications.

This session and much more will be held at the Manitoba Building EXPO.
