Building Envelope Testing: Tools of the Trade

The push for higher performance buildings has naturally led Owners and Designers to demand better performing building envelopes, and a call for testing and inspection services to ensure that building envelopes are performing to spec.

This workshop will demonstrate the tools and techniques commonly used for inspecting and testing building envelopes, both for quality assurance during construction, and for investigation and diagnostics of problems in existing buildings.

Attendees will be divided into groups and will have the opportunity to spend 10-15 minutes at each of the following four stations for a presentation/demonstration of the tools. Group sizes will be kept small to ensure everyone can see and hear the presentations and has a chance to ask questions of the presenters.

1. Infrared Thermography

2. Roof Inspection Tools

3. Window/Component Air Leakage and Water Testing

4. Whole Building Air Leakage Testing

There are two workshop time options:

Option 1: Morning from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Option 2: Afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

A pizza lunch will be served in-between workshops at 12:00 noon.  Everyone is welcome!

This event is sponsored by the Manitoba Building Envelope Council.
