Bursary Awards

WCA recognizes the need and value in supporting students aspiring towards a career in construction. Since 2010, WCA has provided a total of six bursaries yearly through the Winnipeg Construction Association Endowment Fund for students in Red River College’s Construction Management Degree program.

Construction Management Entrance Awards

The following awards are available to students who are entering or an in the first years of the Construction Management Degree Program: one Manitoba Heavy Construction award valued at a minimum of $1,500; one Paul Charette Construction Management award valued at $1,500; and four Winnipeg Construction awards valued at $1,500 each.

To be eligible, applicants must be full-time students and will have achieved a minimum of 70% average using three Grade 12 (40S) courses: English; Mathematics; and one additional 40S course (highest grade).

To be considered for an award, applicants should submit an application, high school transcript, maximum one-page statement indicating why they have chosen this program and how they will benefit from this award. Although not a requirement, a letter of reference from a teacher, guidance counselor, employer or other individual with whom the applicant is well acquainted, is recommended and will be considered an asset. Selections will be based on financial need, statement content, and if included, letter of reference.

Deadline for applications is August 30, 2014. If the applicant has any construction and/or affiliation with Winnipeg Construction Association Members, that information should be included as well. Note: Only one application is required to be eligible for all three of the above mentioned awards.

Construction Management Continuing Students Awards

The following awards have been established for full-time students continuing their studies in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the Construction Management program at Red River College. There are two Winnipeg Construction awards valued at $1,500 each; and one Paul Charette Construction Management award valued at $1,500.

Eligible students will have attained a minimum of 70% (3.00 GPA). Selection will be based on demonstrated financial need.

Deadline for applications is November 10. Only one application is required to be considered for these awards. If the applicant has been has been employed by a Winnipeg Construction Association Member, that information should be included in the application.
