Privacy

The Winnipeg Construction Association understands the importance of your privacy and the sensitivity of your personal information. We are committed to protecting any personal information we hold. This Privacy Policy outlines how we manage your personal information and safeguard your privacy.

From January 1, 2004, all businesses engaged in commercial activities must comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (the "Act") and the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information which it incorporates. The Act gives you rights concerning the privacy of your personal information. The Winnipeg Construction Association is responsible for the personal information we collect and hold. To ensure this accountability, we have developed this policy and trained our support staff about our policies and practices. We have designated an official to be responsible for the day-to-day care and control of personal information.

The Winnipeg Construction Association Web site collects personally identifying information about you only when you specifically and knowingly provide it to us. Your personally identifying information will be used to personalize your experience with the Winnipeg Construction Association Web site, or for such other purposes as are described at any point where the Winnipeg Construction Association Web site collects this information from you.

Disclosure of your Personal Information
Personally identifying information that you provide to the Winnipeg Construction Association Web site will not be made available to third parties outside of Winnipeg Construction Association without your prior approval. Under certain circumstances, the Winnipeg Construction Association will disclose your personal information:

  • When we are required or authorized by law to do so, for example if a court issues a subpoena;
  • When you have consented to the disclosure;
  • When the services we are providing to you requires us give your information to third parties (for example, a lender in a real estate mortgage transaction) your consent will be implied, unless you tell us otherwise;
  • Where it is necessary to establish or collect fees;
  • If we engage a third party to provide administrative services to us (for example, computer back-up services or archival file storage) and the third party is bound by our privacy policy;
  • If the information is already publicly known.

The Winnipeg Construction Association Web site may make aggregate information about our customers (e.g. overall statistics) available to third parties for advertising and other purposes. Information that personally identifies you will be kept strictly confidential.

Personally identifying information which you choose to provide to another party or Web site will be subject to their privacy policy.

What is "Personally Identifying Information?"
"Personally Identifying Information" is information that can be explicitly used to identify and/or contact you as an individual. This includes your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card number, etc. Information that, by itself, cannot be explicitly linked with your "real" identity is not considered personally identifying. Examples of this are favourite or bookmarked Web sites, or your preferences with respect to how you wish to see a given page or site set up according to the selections you choose.
