WCA's new and improved website at www.winnipegconstruction.ca has been live since fall of 2008. Please note that WCA's former website no longer forwards /links visitors to the new website address. Please update any previous Internet bookmarks, favourites or shortcuts to our current address.

Ontario includes special bid instructions for HST

In response to a request from the Ontario Road Builders’ Association, the province’s Ministry of Transportation has changed the wording of a tax-related clause in its general conditions of contract. The move comes in advance of the anticipated harmonization next July of the federal and provincial sales taxes. Read more.

BIM in Construction Workshop

Understanding the Paperwork and Getting it Right!

Description: This session will be presented by local Prime Contractors with first hand knowledge of LEED projects and experience with problems related to trade and supplier specific responsibilities. If you are a subcontractor or supplier to a LEED project – you need to attend this seminar.

Xerox Model 3050 Copier

The Winnipeg School Division Building Department has a Xerox 3050, analog, monochrome, large format copier in working condition available to members of the Winnipeg Construction Association.

In order to encourage re-use of the printer, the Division is offering the printer at no cost. A donation to the Division’s Children’s Heritage Fund would be appreciated but is not mandatory.

Anyone interested can contact Mr. Blair Hill from the WSD Purchasing Department at 789-0402.

WCA Buyers' Guide and Online Membership Directory

With the fall season in the wings and winter not far behind, membership renewal will be upon us before you know it. In the past year we have had several inquiries as to why a member company is not listed on the WCA website under the “Membership Directory” or in the 2009 WCA Directory & Buyers’ Guide.

If you are a new member, please complete and return the Buyers’ Guide form that was given to you upon joining to ensure your company’s Buyers’ Guide category choices are listed in our database, on the website and in the current Buyers’ Guide.

Long-time WCA member companies not listed in the online “Membership Directory” can contact WCA to add their company to the listing.

The WCA Membership Directory and Buyers’ Guide is produced annually and each member company receives one copy at no charge.

It is imperative that you notify the WCA offices of any changes within your company, including contacts, emails, addresses, etc. so that we can keep our database and directories up-to-date. Please check your company’s current listing and let us know of any changes. Thank you.

Online Planroom Tip of the Week: Notification Subscription

It is strongly recommended that you take advantage of the Notification Subscription feature.

To receive project updates through the Online Planroom, click on the Notification Subscription icon at the top of the Project Information screen and "subscribe" to the project. Once you have subscribed you will receive an email when anything is changed/added to the project (Addenda, Notifications, Corrections, etc).
