Proposed Changes to the 2005 National Construction Codes
The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) is inviting WCA members—as stakeholders in the national construction codes—to take part in its annual fall public review of proposed changes to the 2005 national construction codes.
The National Building, Fire and Plumbing Codes developed by the CCBFC are model codes, which the provinces and territories can adopt as is or with modifications as part of their building, fire and plumbing regulations.
The public review is one of the main steps in the process for developing national code documents, providing a nation-wide forum where anyone can review and comment on the changes proposed.
The Fall 2008 public review will include the majority of the changes proposed for the 2010 edition of the Codes and will run from September 29, 2008 until November 28, 2008, using the National Codes Web site www.nationalcodes.ca.
The following three new documents are now available from the Winnipeg Construction Association Planroom. (For more information on the CCA documents, click on the document title for a pdf description.)
- CCA 1 - 2008 'Stipulated Price Subcontract' (replacing the 2001 edition) -
Transition Period: There will be a transition period of approximately seven months during which WCA will continue to sell the CCA 1 - 2001 copyright seals. After July 1, 2009, only the 2008 edition will be available from WCA.
Existing Purchasers: Users who have already purchased the electronic version of CCA 1 will be offered a free download. Emails will be sent directly from the CCA office to all purchasers (who registered during the download process) to inform them of this special offer and reminding them of the original registration numbers that can be used to download the new CCA 1. Users who did not receive an email notification or lost their registration numbers, or have other inquiries/problems in downloading the new file should email: registration@cca-acc.com
2001 Copyright Seals: To encourage the use of the new CCA 1 - 2008, WCA will be pleased to exchange the 2001 seals for the new 2008 seals. Please send a request to planroom@winnipegconstruction.ca prior to returning the seals.
